HSBC awarded AAA rating for fourth consecutive year
HSBC Bangladesh received ‘AAA’ rating for the fourth consecutive year from Credit Rating Agency of Bangladesh Limited (CRAB).
‘AAA’ is the highest rating awarded by CRAB which is given to banks with extremely strong capacity to meet their financial commitments and judged to be of the highest quality, with minimal credit risk.
CRAB awarded the rating based on the performance of the bank in 2010.
CRAB Managing Director Mr. Hamidul Huq handed over the rating award and report to Mr. Sanjay Prakash, Chief Executive Officer, HSBC Bangladesh at HSBC Main Office in the city.
CRAB senior professionals HS Sohrawardhi, Senior Vice President, Ehsanul Kabir, Assistant Vice President, Shahtaj Noor, Senior Financial Analyst and HSBC senior management including Nayeem R Chowdhury, Chief Financial Officer, Kashafud Duza, Head of Financial & Regulatory Reporting and Tax and Kaium Uddin Muhammad Sakur, Manager Finance, were present on the occasion.

Credit Rating Agency of Bangladesh Ltd. (CRAB) conducted a day long Technical Workshop on “Basel II: Asset Quality vs Capital Adequacy of Banks” for the executives of commercial banks at Royal Hotel, Khulna on 03 November 2010.
The session highlighted over view of Basel II, calculation of credit risk, market risk and operational risk with live example, profitability and loan pricing under Basel II, road to internal rating based approach and implementation challenges.
Mr. A K M Fazlur Rahman,General Manager, of Bangladesh Bank, Khulna Office attended the workshop as the special guest. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Tajul Islam, AVP and Manager (Rating) of CRAB. H S Sohrawardhi – Senior Vice President, Mr. Kahlid Hossin- Head of Business Development, Mr. Sajjad-Bin-Siraj – Financial Analyst and Mr. Tabassum Al Atter of Khulna Liaison Office of CRAB were present at the event. Senior official of different commercial banks and corporate houses from Khulna and surrounding areas participated in the workshop through an interactive discussion session.

IFIC Bank Ltd conducted a daylong workshop on ‘Basel-II Accord’ at its academy at Motijheel in the city recently.
Vice President HS Suhrawardi and Mohammad Tajul Islam of CRAB were the main speakers at the workshop. Details of the ‘Basel-II Accord’ was discussed at the workshop.
Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Finance and Accounts SM Abdul Hamid delivered the inaugural speech.
A total of 40 senior officials from different branches and head office of the bank participated in the workshop.
It was the 33rd programme of IFIC Bank Academy in this year.
The workshop was conducted by IFIC Bank Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Training and Research Zaitun Sayef, Vice President SM ShafiquI Haider and First Assistant Vice President (Training and Research) AK Mojibur Rahman.
